Version

Nicole and I are heading to the hospital tomorrow for an external cephalic version procedure. Siena is currently breech, and isn't in the proper delivery position. She needs to be head down, but right now her head is up, way up in fact in Nicole's ribcage. So, in the hopes of avoiding a c-section our doctor has recommended the version procedure. In a nutshell, it's an attempt to change the baby's position externally. The doctors administer a uterus relaxant and use mineral oil on the belly to manually rotate the baby into the vertex position (head down). The photo below gives you some idea what it's like. From our research there seems to be about 50% success rate. If she doesn't turn, we'll schedule a c-section for the second week in July.

I'll be sure to give you an update once we return from the hospital and know more.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

* For the record, this is not an actual picture of Nicole or Siena, nor are those my hands in the surgical gloves and scrubs.
